FRAMES is an international conference series hosted by the ICLA Research Committee on Comics Studies and Graphic Narrative, designed as an inclusive and interdisciplinary space for academic exploration. Building on the foundation of our first two successful gatherings, this series is typically held on a triennial basis to provide a continuous forum for scholars, creators, and researchers worldwide.

The initiative is entirely dedicated to advancing the field of Comics Studies, offering a comprehensive platform to examine graphic storytelling in all its forms. Beyond traditional sequential art, FRAMES embraces the full spectrum of related visual languages—from animated media and picture books to digital narratives and hybrid visual arts. By fostering critical dialogue across methodologies, historical periods, and cultural contexts, the series aims to map the evolving landscape of visual narrative, celebrate its profound impact on global culture, and advance research on comics and hybrid visual languages.
